ParaNorman:
It is a rare stop-motion animation movie. It is counted as one of the best-animated movies so far as it blends beautiful stop-motion artistry with a ghostly tale of Halloween haunts. Different from typical animated movies, ParaNorman has a resonant twist. The story is about Halloween and follows Norman, a young boy. The boy has superpowers and can see and speak with the dead. The movie also highlights the social issue of bullying and making someone feel 'othered,' and holds an emotional twist. But with that, it's also just a lot of fun.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs:
You'll see your dreams coming true if you say 'burgers,' and they start falling from the sky. This movie has the same concept. The animated movie shows snack-based precipitation and is inspired by the picture book of the same name. The movie is about Bill Hader, who is speaking like an awkward, unaccomplished scientist. He is struggling to invent the machine that turns water into food when his town hits an economic crisis. Things go in a surprisingly wrong direction when his invention is accidentally launched into space, which is where the meatballs come in. The silliness begins then! It's what you want out of a successful animated movie.
If Anything Happens, I Love You:
It is one of the best animated tv movies on Netflix and is an Oscar-winning short movie. It has simple graphics and no fancy things. In fact, it is produced using 2D animation to examine the grief of two parents after their preteen daughter is killed in a school shooting. You'll see the true emotions as they go far from each other but are brought together again by memories of their child. It is saddening to watch, but you will never regret spending your 12 minutes watching it.
